As your District Attorney and a 20-year prosecutor, I am dedicated to the prosecution of criminals and make protection of those who cannot protect themselves my highest priority.

Tough, but fair, prosecution is job one.  We target violent and armed career criminals who threaten our safety and destroy people's lives.  We prosecute deserving offenders aggressively and without apology.

Our successful prosecution of criminal cases relies on effective police work and the cooperation of victims and witnesses. While our job is to prosecute criminals, crime prevention is also a goal. Programs to protect everyone from children to senior citizens have been implemented to keep our community safe. The fight against crime will only be won if we all work together.

What Does the District Attorney Do?

As chief prosecutor for the Fourteenth District of Oklahoma, DA Tim Harris and his staff of prosecutors literally serve as the people's attorneys. Elected by Tulsa County voters in 1998, Harris and his assistants are responsible for reviewing police investigations to determine whether the facts and the law warrant filing a charge to initiate a criminal prosecution against a person.

There are approximately 50 attorneys and 50 support staff working under the District Attorney’s direction. They prosecute criminals, work on behalf of victims, collect more than $2 million a year in restitution for small businesses and crime victims, advocate for deprived and neglected children, and promote crime prevention and intervention. The District Attorney also represents Tulsa County and its Officials and Boards in all civil legal matters.
